it's all greek to me!

Please bear with us/me (Shelby) as I start our blog! I've never been really technically advanced or anything so it's going to seem a little archaic at first, but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it.

I decided to start a blog because a good friend of mine from college, Crystal, started one for her and her husband Daniel. They are constantly moving because he is in the Air Force and it's a good way for her to keep all of us interested folks updated about their lives. I decided maybe it's a good idea for us (Greg, Shelby and Sami) because Sami is changing pretty quickly, and people probably want to have some clue about her. Plus, I get to work at a computer and can update anytime I'd like.

So...where to start...well, I guess I can give you a little background as to our lives. Greg and I started dating about 4 years ago ( a little over that actually) right before my junior year of college at CSU (GO RAMS!!!). We had some "rough road" times where we weren't dating, but in the end we decided we were meant to be together; even when life is crazy. I moved back to the Roaring Fork Valley after I graduated in May of 2007 to help take care of my mom and be with Greg...Fast forward to a year later... Around Valentines Day 2008 Greg took me to a jewelry store and we bought a beautiful engagement ring (just ask my best friends, I sent them text pictures!).

Speaking of crazy times...on March 15, 2008 we went to Walmart in Fort Collins (we were there for 3A State Basketball Championships) and bought a home pregnancy test...well, it came up positive...and so did the next three I took...So, we "postponed" the wedding plans (really we kept the same date we were already thinking about but we didn't rush to get married because I was pregnant) and on November 12, 2008, at 12:17am, Samantha Susan came roaring into our lives. Little blond haired, blue eyed bundle of squishy babyness that she was.

Our lives haven't been the same since! On March 21, 2009 Greg and I officially tied the knot at an intimate (if you can call it that...) ceremony at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas, NV. Mostly our closest friends and family came, and then any on-lookers that happened to be passing by. It was so much fun!

Now fast forward to September 2009...Greg is still working for R & A Enterprises, the same company he's worked for since 2004, doing apprentice electrician work (although I keep trying to get him to work on passing his Journeyman's test and get licensed!). I work at Alpine Bank in Basalt (the same town where I went to high school), which I completely adore. I work for a fantastic company and I really enjoy being around so many people.

Sami Sue is our little wonder child. She's super bright, she loves to read books; especially animal books where I make the noises for her. She has finally gotten some teeth (two on the bottom and now one on top), and she crawls like a maniac! She loves to dance, bounce, and generally do anything. Basketball, (coincidence? I think not) we've found, is her favorite sport! She will watch it intently, like she's studying it. (we're hoping this will bring us good fortune in the future and she'll just be a basketball wizard!!!!) She has even started speaking! Of course she says the common "mama" and "dada" but we've caught a few phrases like "ats-is" and she points or picks something up, we are guessing (and so is our babysitter) that she is saying "what's this?". She also says "itty" and points to our cat (not coincidental either, he's been her best friend since utero). She says, "go" and "up" and "out", all pretty much clear as day, and in correct context.
And her smile is the most priceless thing ever! (at some point I'll figure out how to put pictures up on here, and you can see the smile!)

So, that is the basics of Our Crazy Life! Thanks for bearing with me!
